心理剧，难怪配着英字也要花六个小时断断续续看完这80分钟的片子。教会给他的看护被诬陷为梵蒂冈间谍，被母亲从纳粹集中营的铁丝网扔出的他（片中至少重现四次）被要求对着麦克锋说自己是苏联红军捡到的，于是老先生只得寄情于国际象棋。被发配到集体农场挖土豆，有男女共党在拖拉机下车震，好讽刺。
部分情节的发展较为平淡无奇，但整体上并不影响观影感受。
观影全程如坐针毡，冗长拖沓、乏味剧情，加上糟糕视觉听觉呈现，既无娱乐价值，更谈不上艺术熏陶。
可惜角色塑造流于表面，过于脸谱化，好人一味善良、坏人纯然邪恶，缺失深度挖掘，难以给人留下深刻印象。
